Before I start I don’t hate Mrs. Carter I just feel she can do better. The album “4″ was in my view terrible. Yes there where catchy tunes but I think constant airplay of certain songs made people buy the album.
This is a song produced by Hit-Boy. He is know for Jay-z & Kanye West’s epic hit “Niggas in Paris”. I don’t think Hit-Boy hit it well on this one.
H-town is known for Screw music. When I first heard it, I didn’t like it and honestly I still don’t. I respect it, the pioneer DJ Screw and the RAPPERS that properly represent”Screw”. Screw is in H-town almost a type of lifestyle that Mrs.Carter never represented growing up in Houston. It doesn’t fit her image and it sends mixed messages on what Mrs. Carter is now.
Artist always try something new, but it should invoke curiosity in the subject matter they put out. The lyrics though represent “Screw” makes in my opinion someone new to it think it is silly. I feel if she did a collaboration with a REAL screw artist and did a few bars the song wouldn’t be so harsh. Her husband has been successful in this in the past. My favorite is Jay-Z Linkin Park “Collison Course”. Developed an appreciation for “metal rap”. ”Pionts of Authority/ 99 Problems is my shit!
So in closing, I don’t Like it period. I think she didn’t try hard enough AGAIN. And everyone will swear that this is great. I have some of her music, I am not a complete hater. I just want her to do better. Holla at me on twitter @mshouston tell me if I’m valid in my thinking or full of shit.
